There is one Irish characteristic that stands out and is the envy of many of our European counterparts, and it is the wonderful generosity of volunteers who devote their spare time for the betterment of our fellow man/women.
The South West Inner City Network, in conjunction with An Garda Síochána Kevin Street, presented the SWICN Youth Achievement Awards and Community Awards 2012.
For the second successive year I was invited to the presentation of certificates marking the achievements of a very special group of men and women.
September 22nd can be a dodgy day, weather-wise, but the Family Fun Day, organised by the well-known GAA club Liffey Gaels at their grounds and clubhouse, was a day to remember. Not only was the weather fantastic, but the “craic” and stalls, the fun and games, had something to appeal to all ages.
To celebrate and highlight the wonderful achievements and contribution that boxing has brought to Drimnagh and Crumlin the Bosco Youth Club in collaboration with the Drimnagh boxing club hosted a night of celebration.
The venue was the Drimnagh Boxing Club where the internationally renowned Carruth Family hosted a who’s who of local and Irish boxers who have made Ireland a household word internationally for those interested in the sport.
Our Olympic Heroes attended and with their Charm and skills gave leadership to their adoring young fans.
