Public spirited action is alive and well in Crumlin.
What an incredible idea that has been put into action by Dublin City Council’s local office in Crumlin, in collaboration with the Community Centre for Music and the Arts (CCMA) based behind St. Agnes’ Primary School.
It used to be a big, old, infrequently used 'Big Hall' back in the 80s, until Dublin Corporation injected millions into its redevelopment. Now it has endless activities, catering as it does for all the Tenters Communities and the adjoining St. Teresa's Flats residents groups.
Jennifer Clarke of the Ballyfermot Community and Social Enterprise Development Team organised a great event with a huge variety of groups participating in the Ballyfermot Community Civic Centre.
As everyone knows, drug abuse and addiction are seemingly getting worse, notwithstanding the Trojan efforts being made by Statutory and Voluntary Agencies. The increasing signs of people “shooting up” and sleeping rough in public places are an awful reminder of the damage drugs can do to both the physical and mental health of drug abusers.
